2023 Packages are Coming Soon & Genie+ Updates

Genie+ Service Changes

Disney just announced a major change coming to the Genie+ service currently offered at Walt Disney Resort in Florida and Disneyland Resort in California.

For those unaware, or untethered from their phone and/or social media, Genie+ is the paid "fastpass" service, replacing FastPass, FastPass+, and MaxPass. This new digital service debuted in October 2021 and was built to "maximize guests park time to help them have more fun". The service includes an itinerary feature that takes your attraction, show, and dining preferences into account to create a "touring plan" to guide you around the park. Supposedly, this service was meant to help guests navigate the parks more easily and avoid lines/crowds.

Currently, guests are able to add Genie+ to their tickets at purchase, either on standalone ticket purchases, or packages that include a hotel and tickets. The cost is the same no matter if you pre-purchase or purchase the day-of.

Starting June 8, 2022, guests will no longer be able to pre-purchase this service and all guests wanting to use the service will have to purchase after 12am Midnight EST on the day they'd like to use it.

*Please note that if you have already booked a package or purchased tickets with Genie+ attached, nothing will change with your tickets and all pre-purchases will be honored.

More about Genie...

There are 2 sides to the Genie service:

Complimentary Genie Service - $0 COST TO THE GUEST

Per Disney's press release: "Complimentary Genie creates your best Disney day inspired by your top interests. Upon launching Disney Genie service in the app, you'll have the opportunity to share what you'd like to do in just a few steps. You can plan for specific attractions, food spots, entertainment, character meet and greets, and more."

Genie+ Service - $15 (plus tax) or $20 per guest, per ticketed day Disney World or Disneyland, respectively

Genie+ is the new paid FastPass system. You're able to choose the next available return window at many of your favorite attractions. Once your return time comes around, you'll enter through the Lightning Lane side of the queue, formally labeled as the "FastPass Line". At Disney World in Florida, guests will have access to special photo lenses in the app, with no photo downloads, while at Disneyland, photos from attractions and PhotoPass photographers are included in the price.

No matter the service you use - whether it be complimentary Genie or paid Genie+, Genie will help with tailored recommendations and will also display wait times, as well as anticipated wait times, so that you can better plan your day. There is also a custom Tip Board with recommendations for places to visit, attractions and shows to visit, and what restaurants nearby have walk-up availability or mobile ordering windows.
